From 11 to 17 August 2025, Women’s Health Week highlighted the importance of women’s health and wellbeing across all stages of life. This annual event encourages women and those who care about them to prioritise physical, mental, and emotional health while celebrating the resilience, achievements, and inspiration women bring to their communities.
The RBA marked this year’s Women’s Health Week by inviting members of the business community to nominate a woman who has inspired them. The nominations told stories of incredible resilience, high achievers, those who quietly make a difference behind the scenes, and others who are simply kind. This initiative honoured individual contributions and showcased role models who embody strength, compassion, and determination. Whether a mother, sister, friend, colleague, or community leader, these stories highlighted the many ways women positively influence others.
Women’s Health Week also serves as a reminder to focus on holistic wellbeing. Physical health is central, including preventative care, regular check-ups, and healthy lifestyle choices. From nutrition and exercise to screenings for conditions such as breast cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis, maintaining physical health is key to long-term wellbeing.
Equally important is mental health, which has gained increasing attention in recent years. Women face unique stressors, from balancing work and family responsibilities to navigating societal pressures. Women’s Health Week encourages conversations about anxiety, depression, and stress management, as well as providing access to therapy, support groups, and mindfulness practices. Prioritising mental health strengthens emotional resilience and overall quality of life.
Social connections are vital, too. Loneliness and isolation can affect both mental and physical health, so nurturing relationships and participating in supportive networks are encouraged. Community events, workshops, and forums during Women’s Health Week give women opportunities to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.
Women also play an irreplaceable role in the lives of men as partners, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. Their care, guidance, and support profoundly influence men’s wellbeing, shaping families, communities, and society. Recognising women’s contributions reinforces the importance of valuing and supporting them in every aspect of life.
The RBA’s initiative to honour inspiring women reflects this holistic approach. By acknowledging women who motivate and uplift others through resilience, achievement, quiet support, or simple kindness, the organisation highlighted that inspiration and empowerment are essential to overall wellbeing.
Women’s Health Week 2025 was a reminder that women’s health is multifaceted, encompassing physical, mental, and social wellbeing. By celebrating and empowering women, we strengthen not only individual lives, but entire communities, underscoring the positive impact women have every day.
